Honda Announces All-New Hybrid
Honda Motor Co. LTD. has announced an all-new hybrid concept car, slated for sale in the U.S. in the spring of 2009. The all-new hybrid will be marked by its affordable price and its historic name: the Insight. The new concept car is named for Honda’s original Insight hybrid, which was introduced in 1999 and broke new ground as the first gasoline-electric hybrid car sold in America. Recently unveiled at the 2008 Paris Motor Show, the new Insight takes styling cues from the FCX Clarity; and improves on the design of the original Insight, with a roomier five passenger cabin, five door access, and folding rear seats.
Says Takeo Fukui, Honda Motor Co., LTD. CEO, “This new Insight will break new ground as an affordable hybrid within the reach of customers who want great fuel economy and great value.” Affordability and practicality characterize the new Insight, offering further evidence of Honda’s longstanding environmental leadership and constant emphasis on making life better for customers, and society as a whole.
The original Honda Insight was the first vehicle to break the 70 mpg EPA barrier, its drag coefficient of 0.25 remains the lowest drag coefficient of any mass-produced automobile, and its all-aluminum body was the least expensive of its era by a factor of 3! But perhaps the most significant contributor to the Honda Insight legend is how collectible they have become. Says Chris Schneider of Honda Motorwërks, “I have watched an Insight with 42,000 miles bring $2,000 more than it was brand new.” Based on its fuel efficiency and affordability, the new Insight is predicted to be just as popular—it’s expected to have annual global sales of 200,000 units per year—approximately 100,000 in North America.
Ensure you don’t miss out on this incredibly fuel efficient, affordable hybrid. Reserve yours with a down payment of $500 at Honda Motorwërks, in downtown La Crosse.
