PHILL has arrived
The new PHILL System is in place at International Motorwerks in La Crosse to help show the public the benefits of compressed natural gas vehicles and the ease of PHILL.
“We invested in the new PHILL unit to make sure customers in the area see the benefits in case they want to put a PHILL system in their home,” said Motorwerks President Hybrid Guru Chris Schneider.
There are more than 850 CNG fueling systems throughout the country. International Motorwerks’ PHILL is installed on a wall in the business’s service area. The units are small and efficient. They tap into existing natural gas lines and can be mounted to the wall of a garage. Schneider said current federal tax credits of up to $1,000 make the PHILL units attractive to consumers. New CNG vehicles enjoy the highest federal tax credit at $4,000 per vehicle. Additionally, on an equivalent basis, compressed natural gas is about 95 cents per gallon less than conventional gasoline.
CNG vehicles are the cleanest burning internal combustion engines on the planet, according to the EPA. The environmental benefits over conventional gasoline vehicles are staggering. CNG fuel contains less carbons than any other fossil fuel. That makes it the most friendly to the environment and significantly reduces emissions:
● Carbon Monoxide reduced by 70%
● Non-Methane Organic Gas reduced by 87%
● Nitrogen Oxides reduced by 87%
● Carbon Dioxide reduced by 20%
The public and media are invited to learn more about PHILL by coming to the free Environmentology 101 seminars Saturday mornings at 10 a.m. at International Motorwerks, downtown La Crosse or by contacting the Hybrid Guru at 608-784-6433.
